Tipperary Estate was the original vineyard to commercially produce Tempranillo in the South Burnett and this 2016 Tempranillo is the second vintage from this acclaimed vineyard. This early ripening grape has proven to be ideally suited to our Mediterranean style climate. Exhibiting rich, up-front berry flavours, robust tannins (very dry) and a vibrant red hue, this is a medium-bodied (due to the youth of the vines), savoury style reminiscent of its Spanish origins (it is the primary varietal used to make Rioja) and has proven to be extremely popular. Should further improve with time in the bottle and future vintages of South Burnett Tempranillo are sure to build upon this quality first showing. Try serving lightly chilled with tapas or grilled BBQ Beef Skewers.
This small family vineyard focuses on quality and consistency, leading to many award winning wines. Established high on the northern slopes overlooking the Barambah Valley, near Bjelke-Petersen Dam, Tipperary Estate is blessed with an ideal climate of warm summer days, tempered by cool afternoon and evening breezes and cold frosty winter mornings. This climate, combined with structured soils and painstaking attention to detail in the vineyard allows Tipperary Estate to create the clean, fresh vibrant style of wines that characterise the South Burnett Region.
